PVC BOARD CNC MACHINING
Precision Rigid PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) CNC Machining - Corrosion-Resistant Parts for Chemical, Medical, and Industrial Applications
PROTOREV is a professional PVC board CNC machining manufacturer, serving global clients in the chemical processing, medical equipment, electronics, and industrial machinery sectors. We specialize in precision machining of rigid PVC (PVC-U) sheets and bars - delivering smooth surface finish, tight tolerances, and excellent edge quality from prototype to mass production.
Rigid PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride, unplasticized) is one of the most widely used industrial plastics. It offers an outstanding combination of chemical resistance, electrical insulation, flame retardancy (self-extinguishing), and cost-effectiveness - making it the first choice for chemical tank liners, semiconductor wet process parts, medical device components, and industrial piping systems.
Why Choose PVC Board for CNC Machining
Outstanding Chemical Resistance
Excellent resistance to acids, alkalis, salts, and many organic solvents - ideal for chemical processing equipment, tank liners, and corrosive environment parts.
Good Electrical Insulation
Dielectric strength 20-40 kV/mm and high volume resistivity - suitable for electrical insulation parts, cable ties, and non-conductive structural components.
Self-Extinguishing (Flame Retardant)
PVC is inherently flame retardant - self-extinguishing when the flame source is removed. Meets UL 94 V-0 for many grades - no additional flame retardant additives needed.
Excellent Moisture & Weather Resistance
Virtually zero water absorption and excellent resistance to weathering, corrosion, and UV exposure (with UV-stabilized grades) - suitable for outdoor and wet environment applications.
Good Mechanical Strength & Rigidity
Flexural strength 70-110 MPa and excellent dimensional stability - suitable for structural parts, machining fixtures, and load-bearing components in non-high-temperature environments.
Cost-Effective & Easy to Machine
PVC is one of the most cost-effective engineering plastics. It machines easily with standard HSS or carbide tools - no special tooling required, short lead times, competitive pricing.
PVC Board - Technical Properties
- Chemical Resistance: Resists a wide range of acids (up to 36% HCl), alkalis, salts, and organic solvents - performs reliably in corrosive chemical environments.
- Electrical Insulation: Volume resistivity >10^12 ohm/cm - provides reliable insulation for low-to-medium voltage electrical parts and cable management components.
- Flame Retardancy: Inherently self-extinguishing (oxygen index 45-50%) - meets UL 94 V-0 for many grades without added flame retardants.
- Water & Moisture Resistance: Water absorption <0.4% - maintains dimensional stability and insulation properties in wet, humid, and outdoor environments.
- FDA-Compliant Grades Available: Food-grade and medical-grade PVC sheets are available for food processing, pharmaceutical, and medical device applications.

How Does CNC Machining PVC Board Work
1CAD Design & Toolpath Programming
Your CAD drawings are converted into optimized CNC toolpaths - accounting for PVC's low thermal tolerance and ensuring smooth surface finish without melting or chip welding.
2Tool Selection & Workpiece Setup
Standard HSS or carbide tools are suitable for PVC (unlike abrasive composites). The workpiece is clamped with even pressure to avoid deformation of this relatively soft plastic.
3Precision Milling, Drilling & Turning
CNC operations are performed at moderate spindle speeds with air blast or mist coolant - producing smooth edges, precise holes, and clean pockets without melting or surface deformation.
4Deburring, Inspection & Packaging
All edges are lightly deburred (PVC does not form sharp burrs), parts are dimensionally inspected, then securely packaged for domestic or international shipment.

CNC Machining Tips for PVC Board
Use Standard HSS or Carbide Tools (No Special Tooling Needed): Unlike glass-fiber composites, PVC is not abrasive. Standard high-speed steel (HSS) or carbide tools work well - no diamond coating required, which keeps tooling costs low.
Control Spindle Speed & Avoid Overheating: Recommended spindle speed for PVC is 8,000-15,000 RPM for milling. PVC has low thermal tolerance - excessive heat causes melting, chip welding to the cutter, and poor surface finish. Use air blast to dissipate heat.
Use Air Blast (Avoid Liquid Coolant): Compressed air blast is preferred for PVC machining. Liquid coolant can cause moisture absorption on the cut edge and may affect dimensional stability. Air blast effectively clears chips and suppresses heat.
Clamp with Even Pressure (PVC Deforms Easily): PVC is a relatively soft plastic. Over-tightening clamps will deform the workpiece and cause dimensional errors. Use evenly distributed clamping force and consider vacuum table holding for thin sheets.
Welding & Post-Processing: PVC parts can be solvent-welded or heat-welded to form larger assemblies. For aesthetic applications, sanding and flame polishing can be applied to achieve a smooth, glossy surface finish.
